Earlier this month, State Capital Defender Robert E. “Rob” Sharpe, Jr. was a featured profile in the May edition of North Carolina Lawyers Weekly. Editor Ross Chandler of North Carolina Lawyers Weekly said he came away from the interview with Sharpe, “impressed with his work as North Carolina capital defender and his sincere commitment to all that entails.”
In addition to the profile piece, the magazine’s YouTube Channel features the capital defender in two short videos. In the first clip, Sharpe covers three strategies for maintaining realistic expectations about case outcomes with clients. In the second clip, he describes the benefits of joining the capital rosters, touching upon ways the Office of the Capital Defender supports those attorneys who choose to do capital work at every turn.
Chandler of North Carolina Lawyers Weekly reveals a little about Sharpe’s character, what it takes to do the work and how his background and experiences shape the work. Included also are some of the main responsibilities for the person who holds the title, as well as opportunities, challenges, obstacles and more.
