Shonkyra Ridley was recently hired as the new IDS Administrative Assistant. Her start date was February 2, 2026. She replaces Lyn Turner, who recently retired.
Ms. Ridley holds a B.A. degree in criminal justice from Livingston College and brings invaluable experience to her new position from working as a legal assistant with the Wayne County District Attorney’s Office and most recently, as a case manager with the Wayne County Child Support Enforcement Authority.
Her responsibilities with IDS will cover screening and processing capital attorney fee applications; notifying attorneys, experts and clerks of court about approved fee awards; and entering details into multiple agency databases.
Originally from Williamston, NC, Ms. Ridley now resides in Morrisville and enjoys reading—mostly from the science fiction and thriller genres. Her favorite author is Cassandra Clare of the “Mortal Instruments” series. She is also learning to crochet.
“We are very pleased to welcome Shonkyra on board,” said IDS Office Manager Catrinel Rosu. “We are excited for the skillset and perspectives she will bring to the agency.”
