IDS is proud to announce that Budget Manager Sonia Colon has achieved the designation of North Carolina Certified State Government Budget Professional. This designation was earned by completion of the three weeklong programs with sessions held in February, June and October 2025.
The NC Certified State Government Budget Professional Program is a collaboration between OSBM and the UNC School of Government. It provides participants with a top-notch educational experience focused on the knowledge and skills needed to be successful working with state budgets and state financial matters. Participants who successfully complete the program and pass the program exam earn certification as a State Government Budget Professional from OSBM.
The program covered the state budget process, budget strategy and analytical thinking, performance management, program evaluation, strategic planning, purchasing and contracts, grants management and local government budgeting.
Sonia said, “My experience attending this program was amazing, not only with the in-depth look at the budget side but also with financial areas impacted by budget development and execution… My favorite part of the program was the interaction with other professionals, and sharing experiences, challenges and processes for implementation on their daily work.”
