SOG to host Parent Attorney Conference & Juvenile Defender Conference
August 17, 2023 - August 18, 2023
Registration for both the 2023 Parent Attorney Conference and the Juvenile Defender Conference are now open. Both conferences are cosponsored by the UNC School of Government and the Office of Indigent Defense Services.
LOCATION AND RECORDINGS
The two conferences will be held in-person at the UNC School of Government in Chapel Hill, NC. Session recordings may be available at a later date through the Public Defense Education’s online training library; however, any recorded sessions are subject to Bar approval, and we cannot guarantee the quality of the recordings.
SCHEDULE AND AGENDAS

The Parent Attorney Conference will be held on Thursday, August 17, from 8:50am to 4:45pm.
The Juvenile Defender Conference will be held on Friday, August 18, from 8:50am to 4:30pm.
FEE
There is no fee for IDS state employees. The registration fee for private assigned counsel is $165 per conference.
REGISTRATION
The registration deadline for both conferences is 5:00pm on Thursday, August 3.

CLE CREDIT:
The conferences will offer approximately 6.0 hours of CLE credit each. See the conference webpages for details about specific agenda offerings.
The Parent Attorney Conference qualifies for NC State Bar Child Welfare specialization credit and Family Law specialization (pending Bar approval). The Juvenile Defender Conference qualifies for NC State Bar Criminal Law specialization credit.

A block of hotel rooms is available for Wednesday, August 16th and Thursday, August 17th with a rate of $109.00 plus taxes and fees. The rate includes complimentary breakfast, parking, and WiFi.
