At its May 2 quarterly meeting, the IDS Commission recognized Pitt County Chief Public Defender Robert C. “Bert” Kemp III for being named the most recent recipient of the North Carolina State bar John B. McMillan Distinguished Service Award.
Kemp was honored with the award December 12, 2024 at the Pitt County Bar Association Holiday Party in Greenville. The Distinguished Service Award is the only award presented by the North Carolina State Bar Council.
In open session, IDS Commission Chair Bryan Jones read a January 1, 2025, writeup published on the North Carolina State Bar website and congratulated him for an outstanding career and meaningful contributions to the legal profession.
