With grant support from Vital Strategies, criminal defense lawyers in our state recently had an opportunity to attend a unique, two-day CLE experience at no cost.
Co-sponsored by the North Carolina Office of Indigent Defense Services, the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the North Carolina Advocate of Justice, and Vital Strategies, the training was offered to criminal defense lawyers, investigators, and mitigation specialists of North Carolina on March 27 and 28.
Legal professionals and experts gathered at the DoubleTree Hotel in RTP for a program of up to 11.5 hours of CLE credits as they explored “Defending Death by Distribution Cases.”
This first-of-its-kind training covered the following topics: Voir Dire & Deselection, Forensic Pathology, Toxicology, Challenging Charging Decisions, Preparing for Trial, and Working with Clients Struggling with Substance Use. The training culminated on day two with a “small group” jury selection workshop, complete with mock jurors from the local community.
