To our friends in Western North Carolina…
All the television footage, Facebook feeds and local news coverage that we have been seeing of the destruction in the Western part of our state is devastating. The wake of Hurricane Helene is, in a word, unimaginable.
Most of us in North Carolina have been busy, going about our normal responsibilities at the start of a new workweek. Yet, there are still so many that we cannot even hear from to know if they are okay. So, we at IDS want to pause and lift you all up in our hearts and thoughts.
Please know that the employees at IDS in Durham and Raleigh and the members of the IDS Commission care deeply about what you have endured and what you are facing.
We stand ready to support you in any way allowable as you try to start a path to recover, rebuild and restore.
For all state-paid staff:
Be reminded that the Deer Oaks Employee Assistance Program is available and FREE to staff and their families 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days per year.
Do not hesitate to ask for help. We are thinking of you.
Sincerely,
Dorothy Hairston Mitchell, Chair of the Commission on IDS
Mary Pollard, Executive Director of IDS
