Congratulations are in order for Robert E. Sharpe, Jr., and Eric Zogry.
At the November 15 quarterly meeting of the IDS Commission, and by a unanimous vote, both attorneys were reappointed to serve another term in their respective roles.
The Honorable Dorothy Hairston Mitchell, outgoing chair of the IDS Commission, applauded the work of both professionals. “You [both] have done great work, and we [the Commission] received a lot of positive feedback throughout the reappointment process.”
Sharpe was reappointed to serve as the Capital Defender for another four years, with the new term beginning January 1, 2025. Sharpe was first appointed to a partial term as acting Capital Defender in 2015. In 2016, he was appointed to the first full term to lead the Office of the Capital Defender.
Zogry was reappointed to serve as Juvenile Defender for another four years, with the new term beginning January 1, 2025. Zogry was the first Juvenile Defender in the state, and to date, is the only professional to have held this position since the inception of the Office of the Juvenile Defender in January 2005.
IDS would like to thank Sharpe and Zogry for helping attorneys across the state to make a difference in the lives of their clients and for their dedication, leadership and support of those who defend youth and capital defendants.
