
The Office of the Juvenile Defender and IDS welcome Nani Suarez to serve as the Communications Specialist/Project Coordinator for the Office of the Juvenile Defender. Her first day on the job was Monday, June 26.
Nani will assist the OJD in developing social media content, managing the website, and marketing the services and day-to-day workings of the OJD. She will serve as a liaison to Public Defender Offices, contractors, and Private Assigned Counsel (PAC), and she will support the OJD team through effective and strategic communications.
Prior to joining the team, Nani worked as a Communications Specialist for a chemical manufacturing company. She was also an intern at Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina.
Nani holds Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications, with a concentration in Public Relations, and Minor in Psychology from North Carolina State University. She is certified as a Community Spanish Interpreter and Public Service specialist, which she earned from Durham Technical Community College.
Nani was born in Puerto Rico from Dominican Parents. She grew up in both islands and came to the United States at the age of 13.
She specializes in Spanish translation and interpretation, and she is looking forward to making a difference and learning new things in her new role. She enjoys playing volleyball and listening to music.
