
On the morning of November 9, 2023, Jacob Ward was sworn in by The Honorable Judge Jason Disbrow of the 15th Prosecutorial District. He took the oath of office with his wife, Sarah, and two children by his side.
Ward was born and raised in Whiteville, North Carolina. He earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington in 2009, and graduated summa cum laude from North Carolina Central University School of Law in 2013.
Upon passing the bar, Jacob was a solo practitioner for nearly a year and a half focusing primarily on criminal defense and juvenile abuse, neglect, and dependency.
In 2015, he joined the 15th Prosecutorial District Attorney’s Office. While at the DA’s office, Jacob prosecuted a variety of cases to include sex crimes, violent crimes, murders, and a capital murder.
After being appointed Chief Assistant District Attorney, he was responsible for nuisance abatement cases throughout the district and assisted in the removal of the elected Sheriff of Columbus County.
Jacob lives in Southport with his wife, Sarah, and their two children.
