
The Office of Indigent Defense Services is pleased to announce Shannon Simmons has joined the fiscal team to serve as IDS Accountant. Her first day with IDS was Monday, June 26.
Shannon will assist and serve the accounting team in processing payments and travel reimbursements for all those who do work for IDS. She brings with her a wealth of knowledge in the North Carolina Accounting System (NCAS). While NCFS is replacing NCAS this fall, Shannon will use pre-training experience in the new system to guide the team as they make the transition.
Shannon served as most recently served as the Accounts Payable Accounting Specialist 3 for the NCAOC. She holds an associate degree from Vance Granville Community College. Following in her mother’s shoes, Shannon studied accounting; she began her State of North Carolina professional journey as an accountant, having served for NC Wildlife, DHHS, the NC Secretary of the State, and the NCAOC.
A native of Georgia, Shannon has spent most of her life in North Carolina and now resides in Kenly with her family. She enjoys fresh- and saltwater fishing.
Shannon is excited to shift her focus to NCFS and share new knowledge with the entire team.
