What: Attorneys often represent clients that are struggling with mental health issues but often do not attend to their own psychological wellbeing. This has manifested into lawyers having high rates of depression, anxiety, vicarious trauma and substance use issues. This virtual presentation will explore how to recognize warning signs but most importantly share practical approaches to manage stress and increase and sustain wellbeing.

Who: Kimberly (Kim) Tran, PhD, HSP-P is an Adjunct Professor of Mental Health and the Law in the Military and Veterans Law Clinic at the University of North Carolina School of Law. She is also an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology at Fayetteville State University. Additionally, Kim is a licensed psychologist with a private practice in the community. Her research, teaching, consultation and clinical practice areas are framed by a multicultural and affirmative lens focused on trauma, PTSD, anxiety, depression, suicide, substance use disorders, chronic pain management, stress resilience and mind-body-spirit wellness. While at Fayetteville State University, Kim won both the Department of Psychology Excellence in Teaching and the College of Arts and Sciences Outstanding Teacher of the Year awards.
