DESCRIPTION:Friday\, August 16 — 12:30 p.m. \n60 minutes of CLE Credit Offered \nAdverse Childhood Experiences 101: Childhood experiences impact overall development and functioning\, resulting in risk and protective factors. This presentation will focus on the impact of adverse childhood experiences\, impact on brain development\, overall health risk factors and what the data has shown about ACE scores. Participants will gain knowledge on how trauma may impact relationships with focused education on improving overall outcomes by interacting with clients in a trauma-informed and trauma-focused manner. \nThe webinar includes a visual presentation\, live audio\, and interactive Q & A. \nParticipants: This webinar is open to all staff who are part of the indigent defense team. \nSchedule: The webinar will be held on Friday\, August 16 from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Please plan to sign on 15 minutes before the start of the webinar to test your connection. \nRegistration: Please register at the following link: https://nccourts.webex.com/weblink/register/r598ead47c18c4388545a0125d7838bf5 \nFee: There is no registration fee for participants. Those interested in earning 1 CLE will need to complete bar # information requested at registration. \nAbout the Presenter: \nCarla Huff\, MEd\, MSW\, LCSW: Carla began her career in the United States Army and was trained in military intelligence and law enforcement. After leaving the military\, Carla worked as a juvenile court counselor for the Department of Juvenile Justice & Delinquency Prevention in Wake County (Department of Public Safety-Juvenile Services). Carla also spent time working in Wake County Public Schools\, providing support for children and adolescents diagnosed with Severe and Persistent Mental Illness (SPMI). She later transitioned to working with Alliance Health\, a local managed care organization.
