SUMMARY:2025 Bridging the Gap Mitigation Conference
DESCRIPTION:Registration is now open for the Bridging the Gap IX Mitigation Conference.  \nThe Seminar will be a live in person conference in Raleigh at the AOC Building in Raleigh. (901 Corporate Center Drive) \nThe dates are December 2-4\, 2025.  \nThe agenda here: BRIDGING THE GAP IX MITIGATION CONFERENCE iiii \n  \nREGISTRATION: The registration fee is $110.00 for all registrants. There is a limit of 110 participants. \n  \nHOW TO REGISTER: Please mail a check or money order payable to IDS. The address is: \nJennifer Webster \nOffice of the Capital Defender \n123 West Main Street\, Suite 601 \nDurham\, NC 27701 \n  \nHOTEL: There are several hotels in the area. Feel free to book your rooms at any hotel on your own if you prefer. The AOC Building said a lot of people register at the Hampton Inn\, which offers a government rate of $125 plus taxes. \nHere is the link for the Hampton Inn: \nNC Office of the Courts Corp Rate w/ Hampton Inn and Suites: Raleigh/Cary/Lenovo Center \n  \nThe conference starts December 2 at noon and ends early December 4\, so you may only need a hotel for two nights (December 2 and 3). \n  \nQUESTIONS: If you have any questions\, contact either Terry Alford:  terry.w.alford@nccourt.org or Jennifer Webster: Jennifer.a.webster@nccourts.org \n  \n**SPECIAL NOTE TO STATE EMPLOYEES: \nState employees must get prior approval to attend this seminar in order to seek reimbursement using the form AOC-A-182. \nYou can then register and reserve your room. If you have prior approval\, you do not have to pay the registration fee as IDS will cover this fee. \nYou do need to let Jennifer Webster know you are attending and that you have the approval of your supervisor. You need to book your own hotel room and pay for the room. After the seminar\, you can seek reimbursement for mileage\, hotel\, and meals per state rates and rules. \n  \nSPECIAL NOTE TO PRESENTERS: \nPresenters do not have to pay the registration fee but will need to book your own room. DESCRIPTION:Registration for the Winter Criminal Law Webinar is now open. Thanks to the support of the Office of Indigent Defense Services and the UNC School of Government\, we are pleased to announce that there is no registration fee for indigent defenders who meet the eligibility criteria described below. \n  \n2025_Winter Criminal Law Update_Agenda \n  \nThe 2025 Winter Criminal Law Webinar will cover recent criminal law decisions issued by the North Carolina appellate courts and highlight significant criminal law legislation enacted by the North Carolina General Assembly. School of Government faculty Phil Dixon\, Brittany Bromell\, and Daniel Spiegel will discuss a wide range of issues affecting felony and misdemeanor cases in the North Carolina state courts. The webinar includes a dynamic visual presentation\, live audio\, and interactive Q & A. \n  \nParticipants: This webinar is open to public defenders\, private attorneys who do indigent criminal defense work\, and other court personnel who handle criminal cases. \n  \nSchedule: The webinar will be held on Friday\, December 5\, 2025\, from 1:30 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. Please plan to sign on 15 minutes before the start of the webinar to test your connection. \n  \nRegistration: Register here for the Winter Criminal Law Webinar. Pre-registration is required. The deadline is 5:00 p.m.\, Monday\, December 1. \n  \nFee: There is no registration fee for IDS state employees. There is no registration fee for private assigned counsel who do trial or appellate work\, managed assigned counsel\, or capital attorneys who were paid more than $500 for indigent cases during the 2024-2025 fiscal year (July 1\, 2024-June 30\, 2025). DESCRIPTION:The 7th and final course in the 2025 Mental Health and Education Series\n Perinatal Mental Health\nPresented by Roxanne Rosenberg\, LCMHC\, QS\, PMH-C \nDescription: This 1-hour training introduces participants to perinatal mental health and its importance in legal matters. The spectrum\, etiology\, and incidence of perinatal mental health conditions will be discussed. The intersections of perinatal mental health and the legal system will be explored along with case examples related to criminal and family matters. Educated at Yale and Duke\, Roxanne has over 15 years of experience supporting and advocating for pregnant and postpartum individuals. Roxanne owns and runs Anchor Perinatal Wellness\, an outpatient facility for acute perinatal psychiatric illness\, in Raleigh\, NC. She is a member of the federal Maternal Mental Health Task Force\, and she chaired Postpartum Support International’s NC chapter for several years.
