The Office of the Parent Defender, in conjunction with the UNC School of Government, will host a Parent Attorney Conference on the third Thursday of August.
The Parent Attorney Conference provides training for attorneys who represent respondents in abuse, neglect, dependency, and termination of parental rights proceedings. The theme of this year’s conference is ‘Changing the Narrative.’ Speakers will highlight assumptions that are made at various points in proceedings that can influence the outcome of a case and will offer ideas for how parent attorneys can challenge those assumptions.
The program offers approximately six hours of CLE credit, with sessions including case law and legislative updates, substance use and drug testing, and one mental health hour (subject to Bar approval).
This course will be held on Thursday, August 18th from 8:50am – 4:30pm.
The registration deadline for this program is 5:00pm on Thursday, August 4th.
