Termination of Parental Rights
82.10.i Grounds for Termination-Serious Crime Against Another Child 7B-1111(a)(8)

Re J.S.B., D.K.B., D.D.J. and Z.A.T.J., COA06-1107, K. Edward Greene, Adrienne
F. Allison for appellant-mother
The trial court made no separate conclusions of law - or even findings of fact
- as to each element of voluntary manslaughter. Without conclusions as to each
element of the offense, this Court cannot adequately review the trial court's
determination that DSS had proven all three elements of voluntary manslaughter.

Re T.J.D.W. and J.J.W., SCT202A07, Richard Croutharmel for appellant-mother
New brief for NC Supreme Court. The trial court erred in finding and concluding
that grounds existed to terminate the mother's parental rights under this section
of the statute based on her appealed criminal conviction because that appeal
was still pending at the time of her termination of parental rights hearing.
